I have a bunch of pictures of things to write about Sophia's birthday party yesterday but I don't have the energy tonight to upload the pictures and type everything. I do, however, want to write these few things before I forget them.
This morning, I was getting dressed to go out to the store with the girls and Drew. I was trying to put on my bra discreetly under my shirt because Sophia never gives me privacy. She looked up at me and moaned, "Am I really going to wear one of those?" She had asked me previously what a bra was and I told her that someday when she was grown up she'd wear one, too. Well, obviously today it didn't seem like such a great thing to her!
Sophia is VERY into going with Drew for one-on-one time to the bank, post office, store, etc. When they're in the car together, they listen to any of Drew's music they can find on the radio and always come home telling me all the bands and songs they heard. Sophia particularly likes The Beatles and Queen for some reason. This weekend, she heard Money by Pink Floyd and is hooked! Drew had to play it for her from his ipod today as well as Yellow Submarine and A Little Help From My Friends. She is OBSESSED with Yellow Submarine. She also loves the song June by Spock's Beard and will get Drew to play it for her any chance she gets. We're not sure if she likes the song simply because she enjoys listening to it, or if it's because it's called June. June happens to be her favorite character on Little Einsteins. Today, we were listening to The Beatles tunes while getting ready to go out and I told her they are one of my favorite bands. She looked at me and said she loves them, too. Then she said,
"You know what I love, Mommy?"
"What do you love, Sophia?"
"Little Einsteins!" she whispered. "You know what else I love, Mommy? Ballet!" She whispers things when she's really excited and they come out so exaggerated. It's really cute. Drew and I were both laughing because we had been talking about different music the whole time, so when she asked the questions we expected her to be telling us more songs that she loves. Any chance she gets she will tell you how much she LOVES ballet. She wears ballet slippers around our house non-stop, and wears them to be EVERY single night.
Drew and I were talking today about all the silly ways Sophia used to say words that she has since outgrown. It's so sad that she's moved on since it means she's really growing up. She still has some funny words, like when she talks about McDonalds. Even though we always just say McDonalds, she thinks it's called Old McDonalds (like the song), and ALWAYS calls it that. Some things she used to say that we will never forget:
me-han = excuse me
babing soup = bathing suit
leg-a-bug = ladybug
ambebeeps = ambulance
lella = Stella
place map = place mat
sur-E-up = syrup (she used to, and sometimes still does, add an extra syllable in the middle of a word. There is a grocery store here called Publix, and she always calls it Pub-a-lix)
Yesterday in the favor bags at her party there was a little slinky. She had heard the name before but couldn't remember it so I told her again. This morning she got up and asked me to find her slimy. I wasn't sure what she meant at first, but sure enough she was talking about the slinky.
